The 49ers and the Chiefs were destined to face off in Super Bowl LVIII. San Francisco was coming off a remarkable 2022 season that had lit the NFL on fire and Kansas City were the returning champions looking to cement their legacy as one of the league’s great dynasties. The Chiefs had money-in-the-bank vets Patrick Mahomes, Travis Kelce and Isiah Pacheco who always found a way. On the other side of the line, the 49ers brought the pain with Nick Bosa, Chase Young and Arik Armstead, while the Chiefs’ Chris Jones, L’Jarius Sneed and Nick Bolton helped make up the No. 2 defense. But in the end there could only be one—and it was game on!
